“Minister Alain St.Ange took the tourism helm at a time when Seychelles was faced with vast change in world tourism trends, had lost its direct air access to Europe, our main tourism market and, even more challenging, when the world was being affected by the 2007-2008 financial crisis. He demonstrated leadership, courage and determination as he took several bold steps in trimming the sails to maintain our tourism arrival figures and keep our tourism industry relevant to the world of tourism.

Shortly after being appointed CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, he launched the Seychelles brand which goes beyond the physical beauty of our islands and encompasses ourpeople, arts and culture. For him to be able to engage our people in the industry and bring about social cohesion, he introduced as part of his strategy, events based tourism. Subsequent to that Seychelles saw the birth of its Carnaval International de Victoria and a whole series of other events as well as revamping the existing ones to make them more prominent and visible. His motto, still is ‘for a country to remain relevant in the tourism world it needs three things: visibility, visibility and visibility!’

Minister Alain St.Ange is a very loving person to be around. He has a great sense of humour and takes good care of his entourage. His charismatic nature makes you are a natural follower and the people of Seychelles love him for being very dynamic, action-orientated and more importantly a people person. His experience in the field of tourism goes back to the early 70’s and it shows in his grasp of the industry and what makes it tick.”
